Located on a sloping hillside with views of Lake Washington, this new custom home was designed for a family of five. One of the owners was born and raised in Mexico; consequently, the driving concept behind the design was to combine Mexican motifs and details in a contemporary Northwest home. The focal element of the home is a three-foot thick wall that slices through both floors and projects beyond the roof and exterior walls into the landscape. The wall was finished with colored stucco and metal reveals. Other traditional Mexican materials and details were incorporated such as cantera stone, pebble inlays and gridded wood doors.
